Abstract

For the installation for casting lead granules with induction current supply to the channel of the electromagnetic doser in order to reduce metal overheating at the outlet of the nozzle, it is proposed to make the channel part of the doser in the form of two consecutive sections: directly the channel with liquid metal located in the gap of the electromagnet, and the copper bus. The latter conductively connects the flanged end of the channel with the working compartment of the doser, thereby forming a closed electric circuit for inductive supply of electric current. Based on previously performed experimental studies, the operating characteristics of the electromagnetic doser were obtained in the form of generalized dependences of the electric current in the liquid metal of the doser channel, its optimal frequency and the melt flow rate through the doser on the diameter of the granules. By means of multiphysical modeling, the thermal state of the electromagnetic doser with a combined channel part was investigated and its thermal characteristics were obtained. It is shown that for the proposed doser design, the overheating of the melt at the outlet of the nozzle relative to the temperature of the metal at the inlet to the channel does not exceed the maximum permissible value for stable shaping and effective cooling of the granules. Ref. 7, fig. 6.
